Volunteer

For more than a century, the Red Cross has relied upon its volunteers to prevent, prepare for and respond to countless tragedies.  No other organization is more experienced in marshalling volunteer resources and expertise to keep people safe and sound.

We are not a government agency and rely on th generosity of people's time and expertise to help carry out our mission. If you have a passion for helping others, please consider becoming a Red Cross volunteer today.  We have opportunities for almost all ages, skill sets and interests.

Disaster Services

Trained volunteers are on duty 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to emergencies when they occur. Disaster action teams in Yakima and Sunnyside cover the Upper and Lower Valleys giving disaster relief.

The most common disaster in Yakima County is the house fire, but we respond to floods, grass and forest fires.

Volunteers may be called out to help in national disasters when and where needed.

Fundraising and Special Event Volunteers

Be a part of one of Yakima's premiere fundraisers, Grand Vin!  Volunteers are welcome!  Help garner sponsorships and auction items.  Work to set up and tear down the event.

Health & Safety Services

First Aid and cardiopulminary resuscitation (CPR) are the most requested of the health and safety courses however, we also offer bloodborne pathegons, HIV aids, babysitting, and pet first aid.  Last year thousands of people in Yakima County enrolled in more than 350 Red Cross courses.

The Red Cross provides the curriculum and trains the instructors.

Instuctors for all Health and Safety classes are being accepted and bilingual volunteers are in high demand.
